Once the law goes into effect, it will forbid state employers from asking prospective employees about their criminal past before they begin the job interview process.
"This is about showing that these individuals...or more than just their one mistake," said
Holly Harris of the U.S. Justice Action Network. "These bills will break down barriers for these individuals so they can find jobs, support their families, and lead crime-free lives."
Harris said it could help cut down on recidivism, by helping ex cons earn jobs, and make it less likely for them to fall back on a life of crime.
